About Me

The first time I realized that I wanted to be a teacher was when I was in the fifth grade. My teacher, Miss Christensen, had such an impact on my life and my love of education and learning, that through her influence, I knew that I wanted to become a teacher. I have had many experiences and opportunities throughout my life to teach: as a mother, through volunteer work, as a substitute teacher, practicum student, and as an intern.

I believe that the education I have acquired so far and my desire to teach will help me become a teacher who will make a difference in the life of each student that enters my classroom. Every child deserves to have at least one, and hopefully many, teachers who will influence their life in a positive way; the same way Miss Christensen did for me.

I believe that knowledge is a life-long pursuit. The quest for knowledge is never complete, and should not end when formal schooling is over. As a teacher, it is my job to teach students not only my specific content area, but to also help instill in them a desire to gain knowledge. Each student should leave the classroom understanding how important their education is not only now, but throughout their entire life.

My long-term goal is to work within the public education system as a teacher, and while working, continuing my own education. Throughout my career, my greatest accomplishment will be watching my own students grow and develop their own love and desire for the pursuit of life-long knowledge.
